Common challenge

Helping people navigate indoor settings with precision is very challenging using GPS alone. Its accuracy is often not high enough to track locations precisely. Furthermore, the signal needed cannot always be picked up in underground locations or inside concrete buildings.

Our solution

Using the Ellipz technology, we help locate people – or any other assets – much more accurately, and enable you to send them information. We are able to create a stable and highly accurate data network that works where other systems tend to fail. By connecting our LiFi lamps to the internet via Ethernet cables, we’re able to use the LED light beam to send a unique data code. Depending on our clients’ needs, our software and hardware tools decode the data and send the requested location information back.

How does it work?

When using the LiFi Glider, your users’ mobile devices will receive unique data codes sent from a one-way Ellipz LiFi lamp via light. The information the receiver sends back in response, such as location, will be done using an existing WiFi or 3G/4G network. One-way LiFi lamps have the advantage that they’re cheaper, without losing accuracy. The receiver extracts information from a database using 3G/4G or WiFi to obtain specific information related to the code sent by the lamp. Some examples of received information are GPS location, images, audio, video, and text.

For solutions at locations without stable WiFi or 3G/4G networks, we have developed Two-Way LiFi solutions such as LiFi Bridge and LiFi Spotter.

Required products

This solution requires the following products:

  1. Ellipz One-Way LiFi lamp (LiFi Glider), which has an integrated modulator, necessary to send data via light
  2. Receivers for the users to carry (eg smartphones that have downloaded the Ellipz app or Ellipz dongle)
  3. Ellipz Location Tracking software to manage and log users
